We Are

This quilt was made when I lived in Silicon Valley working as a software engineer, and was designed as an introspective comparison between the Amish culture and my own. Despite the extreme differences between our lives, there is common ground between us in the form of quilting. Once I recognized this connection, I found my language switching from “I am” to “We are.” “We Are” is a celebration of these similarities and differences between our cultures. Inspired by the art of Ellsworth Kelley.

This quilt was selected to hang in the Amish: A Modern Muse show at the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles, the QuiltCon 2015 show, and the Baltimore Modern Quilt Guild show at Towson Arts Collective.
