This is the second of two quilts I created for a charity drive done by the South Bay Area Modern Quilt Guild for Jacob’s Heart. There wasn’t a lot of time (we were attempting to make 31 quilts in 31 days) so I wanted to do a simple design. I had a bunch of charm squares to use up, so I made this straightforward design with expanding squares.
The colors and prints were chosen to keep the quilt gender neutral. This was my first attempt at FMQ (free-motion quilting, where the quilt is moved freely under the needle instead of in straight lines) and I’ll be honest–it was quite a while before I attempted it again.
Finished size: 50″ x 50″
Fabrics used: A bunch of everything.
Design: My own.
Number of pre-cut charm squares actually used as this was designed around using them: 2
